A Conservation Philosophy

Conservative repair is central to the solutions proposed by Paul Reed Conservation. We have a good understanding and appreciation of historic buildings and their setting within the environment. The company liaises closely with Local Authorities, Archaeologists and owners to ensure all existing historical features are protected and treated sensitively.

Sympathetic repairs are fundamental to our approach - minimal disruption and 'conserve as found' principles are observed. This is essential to ensure historical detail is maintained for future generations.

One of the primary causes of damage to historic buildings is the use of inappropriate, non-breathable materials. Our craftsmen use only traditional materials that allow buildings to 'breathe' and where possible source local products which match existing or are siimlar in appearance and quality.cottage.png

We adopt a holistic approach to conservation. The materials we use are locally sourced from either coppiced woodland or local sawmills. We adhere to green and environmentally-friendly practice with sustainability as an integral part of this company's philosophy.
